2 New Jobs: A Cafe and a Health Foods Store

So I've been like missing in action for a long time.
But I just wanted to write about a lot of changes that have been taking place in my life these past few months.
I got two new jobs!
I'm pretty excited about it.
It might seem killer to most people, but I am actually pretty relieved that I can work hard, and bring in more money to help pay the bills, and invest in my businesses.

I have a few plans:
-to start a podcast.
-to reach a certain income level that will allow me to RETIRE, yes, RETIRE, from working for somebody else for good in the next year or two.
-to move to California to train with my favorite BJJ gyms- Art of Jiu Jitsu and Gracie Humaita in South Bay.

I am aware that this will demand changes in myself. Changes like never before. I really need to start with myself if I expect the other areas of my life to rise up as well.
It is Palm Sunday today.
Holy Week is going to start. And I want to be aware of how I treat others, and how well I do God's Will this week.

God bless everyone!
Stay Healthy!

Sirena's Notes: The Beauty Detox Foods by Kimberly Snyder, C.N.

"The connection between food and beauty is incredibly powerful. Just by changing the foods you eat, you can radically change the way you look and feel." -Part 1, Page 3

Key notes:
Energy is a key factor in permanent weight loss.

Digestion eats up energy.
"Beauty detox foods are designed to free up energy from digestion, which is the single most important way to redirect large amounts of energy to make weight loss easy and help you look most beautiful."

Kim talks about how a lot of diets don't focus on "how efficiently-or not- your system can break down or use any given food." She is right. Most diets just say, 'You gotta make sure you have your protein!"
She goes into a section which she called "Eat more veggies and fewer Animal Products".
The goal is to obviously eat whole plant-based foods.
Kim gives us a list of "beauty greens and vegetables" to eat that increases alkalinity and most importantly, cleanses toxins from the body.
But why stay away from animal products?
Kim gives a lot of stats and evidence to show that animal protein should be decreased tremendously if not entirely eliminated from your diet.
So, I'm just gonna direct you to this documentary:

Forks Over Knives. Watch it and learn about the craziness you're putting into your body if you're eating animals.

The Glowing Green Smoothie (or Juice)
I'm really excited to try this out. What I want to do is have this for breakfast every day so I can get ENERGY.
Honestly, I am kinda of thinking of "yay weight loss!" but I am also seeing how this can be a really great way to just ease into a more pure plant-based diet. Lately, I've been eating a lot of rice and veggies. But I wanna slowly get off rice as the year goes by.

High in fiber, high in nutrients, gives great energy.
What's not to like!?

Fast Forever on Dairy. In other words- DON'T EAT IT (OR DRINK IT)
Just a few points:
1. Cancer
2. Indigestion
3. Mucus
4. Acidic

So, the main things:
Eat for energy- more veggies; less animal protein. Drink Green Smoothies. No dairy.

Nik Hoot: A Pro-life Warrior

I am Brazilian Jiu Jitsu martial artist.
When I first stepped into the gym to train Brazilian jiu jitsu (BJJ) for the first time, I fell in love with the art. I wish I could explain all the reasons why, but one of the realizations I had last year during a break that I thought would be a complete walk-away from BJJ was that God has a purpose for me in this martial art.
Long story short, I went back to BJJ and tried to face my fears and anxieties, my wounds from my past, and my faults.
So, now, I'm trying more than ever to focus on that purpose. Not winning or being the best on the mat or being some kind of prodigy.
But to focus on learning the art, being intentional about what I'm doing and the people I train with and caring about them and learning from them.
And seeing where the value is.
Always being coachable.
Always learning.
And lastly and always, glorifying God.

And that's what I believe about every athlete. That God has a purpose for them in that sport.

Meet a young guy whose purpose is beyond what most can imagine.

Interview with Peggy Bowes, Health and Fitness specialist!

"Cheryl: Explain your own philosophy and approach to health and wellness.

Peggy: I believe that the best way to live a healthy lifestyle is to incorporate healthy habits, one at a time, until they become second nature. Too often people make the mistake of trying to make dramatic changes and then become discouraged when they fail to meet unrealistic expectations. Instead, focus on creating one new habit every month or so. For example, if you don’t exercise, start with just 10 minutes, twice a week. Maybe you are trying to eat more fruits and vegetables. Make it a goal to add one more serving each day, not three times a day. By making small changes, one at a time, you will set yourself up for success in the long run."

Pray for an Athlete:

Second is John!
This guy has been totally supportive of my transition in to a more plant based diet for my athletic performance and he is also passionately against genetically modified organisms (GMO).
He has somewhat recovered from his back injury, and with your prayers, we can hope for an injury free future as he continues to progress in life, specifically in the sports he partakes in.

And he is a firefighter! An honorable career in which he ensures the safety of us all!

Pray for An Athlete:

First is Jayronne.
She is a decorated BJJ martial artist and she is only in high school!
She is coming back from a knee injury that kept her off the mats for a while.
Jayronne has recovered significantly already, but it wouldn't hurt to send prayers her way to ensure a smooth come back on the mats.
I truly understand having an injury. I broke my ankle a couple years back and 6 months felt like forever.
